Duckhook is at its core a golf score tracker.  When playing, I track multiple stats: fairways, drive distance, putts and Greens in regulation.  I created Duckhook because I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted in other sites or mobile apps.   I have used a few others that I liked but never quite did what I wanted so I decided to build one.    While I still have many features I plan to build there were a few key things I incuded first thing.   

• Handicap tracking 

  • The ability to track your handicap and see how each round affected it.  It isn’t an official handicap for the USGA but it should match 

• Your best score at a particular course

  • Golf is great because you are playing against the course

• The ability to export your scores

  • A lot of the previous sites I used didn’t give an easy way to leave and that made me fear what happens if they shut down.  This is more for everyone else than me but I wanted to include it

• Understanding about courses in an area

  • I’ve written a longer explanation of my thoughts but If I am traveling and looking to golf it’s without a lot of planning.  I just want a feel for the “type” of course it is.  In my own town I want to know if they just aerated the greens or if the fairways are filled with puddles

The Future

There are a lot of features I plan on bringing in the future.  The first will be a course finder map and a better way to look at all the course information.   I am thinking about ways to highlight that information starting with highlighting the course tournaments are being played at beginning with the PGA.  I think a cool feature of golf is you can go play a lot of the most famous “stadiums” in the sport.
